In addition, to ensure you don't get bored with your workout regimen, aim to complete a variety of physical activities. If you aren't interested in more basic forms of exercise, like running or weightlifting, try alternatives like taking a dance class, joining a tennis or basketball league, or going on a hike. Also, look for ways to make exercise a part of your normal daily activities. Can you walk to an errand instead of driving? Can you sneak in some squats while you make your morning coffee? Even cleaning can be a workout!
Most of all, fitness should be fun. If working out is a chore, you won’t stick with it. Look for activities you enjoy, listen to fun music while exercising, and mix things up when you get bored.
There are some easy things you can do to quickly improve your diet. For one thing, meal planning is a tried and true way to make sure you’re eating nutritiously and not accidentally overdoing it on snacks and dessert. Secondly, instead of overhauling your entire diet, look at places where you can make simple and healthy substitutions. Switch out your white bread for whole-grain, or ask for a vegetable side instead of fries next time you grab a burger somewhere. Most importantly, aim for variety! Don’t get stuck in a rut, or commit to a bland diet you don’t want to eat. Try new foods and new recipes regularly, and aim for a colorful plate every time. The more shades of fruits and vegetables you’re eating, the better!
